Below are the links to your final installation pages. Each page has the template below already on it with a back link to your wiki personal page. You can delete the explanatory text and keep the topic headings. Contact me via the discussion board if you need any help getting the page done - particularly with respect to issue of presentation and market value. Remember to set notification for the discussion board. Also note the times below when I will be available for in person consults before our exam session.
Your final installation should be ready to show to the class during our final exam period - Monday, May 17, 10:15-12:15. To start the final installation, create a new page called "Lastname Final Installation" Then construct your page using the following template:
The "work(s)"
Upload or link to the work or works of visual culture that you discuss below.
Materiality and Production
Describe/document what the work is and how it was made. Discuss any special skills required to make the work.
Presentation and Market Value
Describe how the work has been / is being presented and any information you can find about its (and /or its creator's) popular / critical reception and "monetization" Consider whether there is any relation between market value and production skills.
Visual Grammar
Using concepts and terms from Kress, briefly describe its visual grammar with particular emphasis on the notion of modality.
Theory / Meaning
Given the information above, describe what you think is the "meaning" of the work and develop a theoretical position which justifies that interpretation. Your theory should address the question of whether the work counts as an example of "Art" and whether there is any reason to retain the notion of "Art" other than as a culturally constructed, anthropological category. Feel free to link to any other pages you have created in the wiki or any other wiki page or web source.
